To get the best search results look at these tips:

  1. Use more than one word
    Example: geography key stage 1
  2. Use similar words
    Example: encyclopaedias encyclopedias dictionaries
  3. Use capital letters to be more specific. Sometimes you get a better search by using a capital where it would normally be used.
Example: maths will show pages containing maths, Maths and MATHS. Maths will show pages that contain only Maths.
  4. Use quotation marks to find a phrase
    Example: "Contact the ICT Team"
  5. Use plus (+) or minus (-) to find pages containing the + word or phrase but not the - word.
    Example: +Grimsby -Scunthorpe
  6. Use wildcards (use a * instead of one or more letter)
Example: wh* will find the words what, why, when, whether and any other word that starts with wh.
Searching for *her* will find the words here, whether, together, gathering and any other word that contains "her" anywhere in the word.
  7. Make sure your spelling is correct!
