Welcome to the back yard! Life was hard in the 1950's. Men were away at sea for long periods of time while their wives stayed at home and did jobs like mending the nets to make extra money and do all the normal house hold chores. These would involve washing clothes using a dolly and tub in the back yard and bathing children in a tin bath. I bet you don't have a bath in a tin tub! |
The smell wasn't too nice either! That's because toilets were outside in the 1950's. An ideal opportunity for me to catch mice and rats! |
