Ideas for resources
Walk through a street, park, wood, beach, market, the docks, garden, churchyard, nature reserve or country park.

Activity
Children and adults walk through the chosen environment using all their senses.

Adults role
To draw attention to sensory experiences (e.g. feel the textures of building materials, smell growing things etc.) To encourage responses to pleasant and unpleasant stimuli using facial expressions, body language, as well as verbal responses. To explore alongside the child, encouraging conversation and valuing their reactions, and above all to ensure safety.
